Nature's Splendor

“To walk in nature is to witness a thousand miracles.”

~ Mary Davis

Have you ever thought about what this land looked like 300 years ago? I think about things like this and it enchants me. But, it also makes me a bit sad.

It makes me sad because of how much beauty has been lost due to greed. Don’t get me wrong...I understand history and I am fond of many modern conveniences. However, standing in a place like this brings all sorts of emotions to the surface for me.

While I can’t do anything about the past, I can make a better present and future by my actions. You can do this too!

I make it my mission to find places that aren’t touched by humans much and that still have that “wild” feel. It’s part of what sets my soul on fire and helps me to feel whole. I love to explore!

I also am very aware of littering. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves. I think it exemplifies laziness and a lack of respect for our Mother Earth.

I’ve stressed to our son how important it is to not litter, pack out what you pack in, and to try to leave things better than you found them. He has a love for nature like my husband and I do. And in truth, if his children are to see this beautiful wild the way it is it’s up to each of us to make a difference.

What do you do to help keep nature wild?
