Sausage Egg Roll in a Bowl!

I love trying out new recipes. I saw this on on Facebook somewhere. I went back and tried to find it and couldn't. So, I improvised as best as I could. When I make a recipe the first time I follow the recipe to a tee.....after that I make it my way. I did manage to write down everything so here goes:

  • 1 package of Pork Sausage (I like Jimmy Deen - Regular)

  • 1 package of Cole Slaw Mix

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 TB ginger, minced

  • 3 Green Onions or Scallions, chopped

  • 1 TB Soy Sauce (or more to taste)

  • 1 TB Sesame Seed Oil

  • Salt & Pepper to taste

1. Brown the sausage.

2. Combine. Add the green onions or scallions (I used green onions).

3. Add in the package of cole slaw mix, garlic, and ginger.

4. Add in the soy sauce. Combine and cook for a little bit.

5. Add the sesame seed oil. Combine and cook for a few minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. That's it!

I couldn't believe how easy this was to make. I have learned over the years to be careful not to cook things like this too long because you want the veggies to have a little crunch and not be soft. When looking at this recipe I knew it didn't have quite enough substance for the hungry cowboys at home so I thought about what I could add as a side to this. I decided on homemade Fried Rice. That did it! In face, we just combined it all together and it was amazing. I did need to add a bit more soy sauce and a tiny touch of oil to ensure it wasn't dry. It was delicious!! Here is what the finished meal looked like:

The next time I make it I will exchange out the pork sausage for ground beef. Why not? We love beef, we are ranchers and we raise it....nothing better in my opinion! While I am on that subject, don't forget to always #DemandUSABeef. It's imperative that we all do this so we are all getting the best quality that we deserve.

If you make this recipe let me know what you think....I bet you and your family will love it. Enjoy!!
